Page 2 of 3 Building the experimentFirst of all we need copy for all 6 pages, the key phrase "website maintenance" must be repeated the same number of times and in roughly the same places. The copy will be structured with the following rules The Title will have 8 words with "website maintenance" at the start. The word "website" can be used once on its own. There will be 3 sentences in 3 paragraphs The layout and presentation of the pages will be identical
Measuring the resultsWe will measure the results by performing a site search on google as such "site:www.arclid.com website maintenance" from this we will see the order of the pages. Observations- It is quite difficult creating 6 pages saying a very similar thing but with sufficient changes to avoid duplicate content. So unfortunately the copy is not particularly well written.
- To display html from an xml document in you must use <xsl:copy-of select="."/> otherwise the html will be parsed as xml
- In xsl to display html entities you have to us the following: <xsl:text></xsl:text>
- A possible drawback of using xml is that you will only include titles for example once in the document where as in an xhtml document you will be repeating the title many times.
The pages1.xml 2.xml 3.xml 1.htm 2.htm 3.htm
