Page 1 of 3 It is thought that Google factors in to its algorithm the ratio between content and code. This makes me wonder if this is true will an XML page out perform an xhtml page. With the latest browsers it is now possible to transform an ordinary xml file into a web design. This means that purely XML websites are possible. If search engines do appear to prefer XML to xhtml then there is a case for moving development of new websites into XML.
Making it a fair testIt will be very difficult to ensure that this test is completely fair. The major limitation to this experiment is the penalty for duplicate content. - 6 pages will be created, 3 XML and 3 XHTML
- The same subject matter will be used
- The key phrase "website maintenance" will be used. Each page will have the same number of words and positions of our key phrase.
- All pages will be linked to from the same page in this article and our homepage
HypothesisIt is my expectation that the XML page will out perform the XHTML page due.
